When I was a boy, my father took me to our place of worship often. I was taught that after death, every person faces two possible places: above is Heaven, and below is Hell.
Hell is a place of punishment for sin, with fire, pain, and separation from God. That thought scared me as a child. But I also heard about heaven, a place of peace, joy, and no more pain or death—where God Himself is.
One day I heard a verse from the Bible, John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” At that moment I believed. I prayed, “Jesus, I believe in You.” Deep inside I knew my sins were forgiven and that I would be with God in heaven.
From that day on my life changed. God’s Spirit gives me peace, strength, and hope. Life here on this earth is a challenge, but Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to God but by Him. Blessings continue to come from my relationship with God because He is so faithful. Frankly, I am so looking forward to that day I can be with God in Heaven.
